Easy Ways to Look Like Your a Blogging n00b
January 9, 2008
I’ve been stressed. Many things honestly. But for the sake of time and your sanity I’ll stick to the one’s related to the blogging community. I’ve been so busy being awesome and letting life..w.el virtually overwhelm me I haven’t been able to blog near as much as I would like. I suppose that is why so many people want to make blogging a full time job…well other than the no real boss and working from home thing…but I digress. I could easily put out some short posts but nothing with any meat to it… and in the long run I would think it better to have some deep content, or at least content of use or interest, as opposed to the quick and funny.
I could sit here and throw up top 10 lists, # of interesting blah blah’s (yes, like this star wars article of mine). But all that takes time. So let me pose this…is something…even if it’s not great content, better than nothing?
Then there comes all the adsense questions… like “Why the hell does no one ever click an ad?” In fact, I recently read an article over at richminx.com on “How to Make 4c a week from Your Blog“… it’s pretty funny but I sat there thinking, oh wait, I do this. How sad.
My favorites off the list were:
5. Subscribe to all the successful blogs.
Then leave comments like, “Great post, thanks!” and link to your url. I’ve had at least three visits this way.6. Instead of blogging, just keep checking your stats and income.
That day when you make 1c will encourage you to keep going.7. Write about what you had for breakfast.
You’d think no one would care, but that’s not true. At least two people will care.
Along those same lines (and more to the point of this post) is something I read over at courtneytuttle.com about 10 Easy Ways To Make Yourself Look Like A Blogging Newbie. Sadly I found myself reading this screaming “Stop it! Your Making Aaron SAD!” Luckily, we all know what I do when I get sad. I’m guilty of some, if not the bulk, of the list items. Some errors mention simply come from actually being a n00b. Starting out in the blogging world, I read a lot but there is a certain amount of thing you simply have to learn by doing. I would actually say my two biggest “sins” on the list would be #6 Spreading myself thin and #2 Posting erratically. I hear people (including myself) talk about blogging when they get a chance. And honestly, I don’t think you have to blog everyday or multiple times a day to be successful. Posting articles with quality and consistency are a must though, if you want a successful online blog. If I don’t do that then honestly, I have no one to blame but me.
Feel free to weigh in. What on these list do you agree/disagree with or are guilty of?
