Synopsis:

“My Jerks,” Dr. Kelso’s beautiful but unethical replacement, Dr. Maddox (played by guest star Courteney Cox), shakes things up at Sacred Heart, while J.D. struggles to manage a new crop of incompetent interns and Carla helps Elliott put her ego in check. You will notice I start the bulk of the segment categories with the word “My”…I only do this because that is how all the eps are titled, and I am to tired to be more cleaver.

My Thoughts:

Really great way to start of Season 8. Not sure if Courteney Cox really sold me on the Chief of Medicine part but she was still quite funny and came in strong. The bed balloon bit had me cracking up all show long and I just can’t get enough of Ted (Sam Lloyd). When he cried out “My Balloon”, I nearly fell on the floor. And Turk is 1/8 Japanese?

My Greatest Moments:

• When the Janitor makes fun of J.D. pre-pubescent Miami Vice beard…
• Any moment where someone is holding a red balloon.
• Dr. Cox’s Jerk rant (the rants just don’t get old)
• Dr. Maddox tries to get the Janitors name

My Inside Scoop (basically an episode run down):

New things, but the Janitor still makes fun of JD. We meet some of the new interns and according to JD “They Suuuuuuck.” Brief scenes with Katie (who is a know it all), Denise (who has no tact) and Ed ( who seems to be quite popular). Next we are introduced to the hospital’s new Chief of Medicine, Dr. Maddox. She is overly friendly and hates spiders.

We see JD try to connect with Dr. Maddox several times, only to fail and then Dr. Maddox goes to take a patient for a full body scan, which we all remember from the Cox/Kelso days what those are for. Dr. Cox is sure that Dr. Maddox is a jerk, give a classic rant and refuses to get to know her. JD still hats his new intern group and Katie is dubbed mini-Elliot.

At the coffee shop, Ted see’s Kelso (“My Balloon!…still funny) and Carla tells Elliot she is kind of whiney and self-centered. Not at the coffee house Dr. Maddox get angry at the Janitor for tripping JD. Everybody now has two words coming. I Do (when Elliot ask Carla if that is what she thinks), Your Fired (for the Janitor), and We’re Sorry (to JD from the interns).

Dr. Cox still thinks Dr. Maddox is a tool and Carla tries to help Elliot realize thing she will regret. We also find out when Turk approaches Elliot that Carla has spies. Ted talks to Elliot and lets her know that she really did hurt Keith.

The ‘May I talk to you’ moments come. Dr. Maddox walks the Janitor out of the hospital and takes his really universal key because she really did fire him. Elliot talks to Keith and they do reconcile. Dr. Cox talks to JD and still mentors him to realize everyone gets ‘tired of it’. JD of monkey interns and Dr. Cox from dealing with jerk COMs.

We find out that Dr. Cox was right and Dr. Maddox besides being a nice person is a money-whoring jerk. Eliot apologizes to  Keith, JD gets over his hatred and teaches the interns and we see Dr. Cox and Dr. Maddox argue over profit vs. ethical. The more things change, the more they stay the same and we see the new, older and nice to JD, janitor.

Don’ Miss the Credits (I told you so):

JD give an inspiring Dr. Cox’ish speech about their 8th year and pokes some fun at the fact they never get any awards despite ratings. Dr. Shalhoub wins everything, and the Nielsen’s don’t agree.

Just saw that Bill Lawrence (the creator and brilliant mind behind the show) has blog on ABC. He posted something today called Premiere Day.  It’s well worth the read either before or after  you watch the Scrubs Season 8 premiere.

Man, I’d like the show to do well tonight. I haven’t really followed ratings for a long while, but I guess I’d like NBC to feel stupid. Still, Zach and I laughed because we wouldn’t be surprised if the ratings are the same they always are, even with all the promotion.

*side note…I predict ratings go up.

Also… he goes on a short rant on “haters”…they deserve it if you asked me. It’s tough putting yourself out there like they do. Anyhow.

And SCRUBS (though I’ve said too much on this topic before) wouldn’t go forward unless it was based around existing regulars. If any Haters dislike the "I really want to &@$#* you" duet sung by Ted and his (spoiler) girlfriend, then I have lost track of what’s funny.

This bothered me at first, but you tend to grow some thick skin when you play online so I took some time, thought on it and replied asking the person to be a bit more specific, what they were looking for and what they expected?

No Answer.

Still it makes me wonder, what are people looking for when they visit BAI? I have all kinds of stats (articles visited, most comments, search terms, etc.) and I try to use these to gauge the content of the site. When BAI first started, it was on a whim and I had no idea what I was doing. I got the name after watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother and hearing Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) say, “When I get sad, I just stop being sad and be awesome instead. True Story.” In fact, the Awesomeness Poster is still a huge part of this site!

The content of the site has wondered at times but I try to focus on great (and awesome) shows I watch like HIMYM and Scrubs  as well as other interesting/funny things I would consider awesome. De-motivational posters have been popular, as have some other quite random things I never thought people would care about. (On a side note, it’s really annoying when people hotlink to your content. I have toyed with disabling it but I will hold off for now. Just stop it. Stealing bandwidth like that is not awesome, it sucks. And if you aren’t smart enough to figure how to copy a pic to your own site and host it there and then leave a credit link then feel free to contact me and I will be happy to teach you.) Sorry for the rant, I digress.

I say all that to ask this, what are you looking for here? How I Met Your Mother show recaps? Scrubs stuff? Awesomeness? BAI has increased from it’s awesome beginnings to around 450 unique visits and over 1100 page views a day, so I assume with the growth something keeps people coming back. Sound off below, so the site can better serve you and thanks for visiting.

*note…this is NOT an attempt at a New Years Resolution…Resolutions are worthless. I resolved a long time ago to never make another and I haven’t…see the irony? Besides, if you can’t change when it’s needed waiting until New Years won’t make a difference.

Don’t miss the credits! They might be the best part of the entire episode. The writers take some cleverly disguised jabs at their lack of awards recognition, and it is priceless.

Season 8 will Premier on ABC on January 6th at 8:00pm CST, but there should be a webisode featuring the new interns interns sometime on January 1st at ABC.com. The webisodes will focus on the newest interns at Sacred Heart Hospital, and will introduce their characters before Season Eight begins.
