Scrubs Season 8 Episode 10 – My Comedy Show
February 10, 2009

Synopsis:
J.D. and Turk organize their historically unfunny annual sketch show with the new crop of interns.
My Thoughts:
Don’t know if I just set the bar too high after last weeks episodes but My Comedy show wasn’t that impressive. Listen there were some really funny moments. The Janitor and Carla story line was seemed like it was just filling time. I was even more disappointed in the outcome of that story line, if that can even make sense. Also, the ending seemed to come out of nowhere…very rushed. I hate to gripe on My Comedy Show too much because I did laugh and fun was had by all, but overall…it could have been better. Was I the only one that felt this way?
My Great Moments:
- The mention of the Doctor Cox sketch. Wish I could have seen that part of the real show.
- The Beard Face costume was awesome.
- Denise does something nice for a patient. What a contrast from earlier this season.
- The JD & Turk part of the Comedy show. Denise. Sunny. Kiss. Enough said.
- Sunny Day… why are names so interesting to people? They just are.
- Any time they play the song “guy love” how funny.
My Music:
Torn Blue Foam Couch by Grand Archives
My Quotes:
JD: We are funny and you are not.
JD: If they’re not naked then they are just sad and dying, what fun is that?
Turk: We make them British.
JD: Good save. It’s back in.
Turk: I have been called the black Wayne Brady.
JD: (Referring to Elliot’s butt) flatter than day old beer. You know. Turk, I made a funny, rewrite.
Denise: (to Sunny) Ok. No more talking till I’m drunk, ok?

My Inside Scoop:
This episode starts off with Denise doing something nice for a patient, great character development. Elliot talks to Denise and explains how some unlucky babies smell like ham. Along comes the happiest person on the planet, Sunny. Who invites other interns out for a drink. Denise declines but Sunny says they will eventually be friends. Elliot encourages Denise to go otherwise the hospital will eventually get to her. The Janitor and Kelso catch Carla tweezing a humorously large hair from her chest area.
Every year, there is an intern sketch show to roast the hospital senior staff. Since it’s never any good, comedy geniuses Turk and JD are directing the show. They even take some time to bring back memories of the last time the show was funny and ask the inters to make it funny for Laverne.
Denise hates Sunny but has to work with her a lot. Denise also never left to join the other interns like Elliot advised. Elliot seems miffed but get’s even more so when the mother of a patient assumes Elliot is much as old as she is. Denise also promises she will get out of the hospital tonight. The comedy show is moving along but no one wants to partner with Denise so Sunny volunteers. The Janitor brings up the “situation” he witnessed yesterday and ask for the hair (patented Janitor adlib I assume, great stuff), Carla tells him she wasn’t even at work yesterday. Denise and Sunny talk to their patient and find that her Mom is overly protective. JD brings in Jimmy the Overly Touchy Orderly as a “ringer” for sketches that aren’t working. JD and Turk also offer some very funny last minutes direction before the show (possibly the best part of the episode). The Janitor is still harassing Carla and she is still saying he imagined it.
When Denise and Sunny talk to Elliot about how over protective the mom is, they find Elliot is pretty obsessed with the age issue. In addition, they are late for the sketch show. The sketch show is shaping up as very funny, then Jimmy takes over…it stops being funny, not so oddly enough at the Dane Cook impression. Denise and Sunny don’t know their lines but get great laugh when they kiss to make fun of Turk & JD’s “bromance”.
Denise asks about the talk with Brianna’s mother and Elliot’s options have changed, plus Elliot finds that Denise broke her promise by not taking some time off. After the ribbing from the Comedy show Turk and JD play it cool and try not to be so “bromantic”. Elliot tells Denise and Sunny not to hassle Brianna’s mom about her decisions and the Janitor asks Kelso to confirm what happened with Carla. Carla got to Kelso first so he says he wasn’t even there yesterday and D&S decide to confront the overprotective mother.
JD and Turk finally get a chance to talk about things over lunch and decide to “grow up” a bit and tone down the PDA at work. S&D get caught by Elliot confronting the mother. The Janitor is having trouble grasping reality thanks to Carla, she still plays along so her secret will be safe. She is nice and he apologizes, so she apparently wins. When Turks get an old paper published they can’t hold back the hugging anymore and guy love plays. Elliot played Denise by getting crushed by the mom so that Denise would understand Elliot’s point. Denise really needs to get out of the hospital once in a while and Carla tells Denise that to get over things that happen there sometimes you must pretend it never happened. Turk and JD get to do “the Eagle”. And Denise takes some good advice and joins the rest of the interns for a beer.
