Scrubs Season 8 Episode 2 – My Last Words
January 6, 2009

Synopsis:
J.D. and Turk set aside their decade-long steak night tradition to comfort a dying patient, while Dr. Maddox(guest starring Courteney Cox)begins to show her true colors.
My Thoughts:
Scrubs took no time reminding us why they ARE one of the best shows on television. You see the great thing about Scrubs is that despite being extremely funny all the time they can throw the emotional part on at any time. This episode had it all and despite not including all characters as much it was still excellent. I mean if they had done any more it would have to be an hour long or so. So what did you like/dislike?
My Great Moments:
- References to ‘bro’mance. What a funny term.
- the Steak Night song and dance
- Ted…anything with Ted in it.
- I will admit that I actually get a little misty eyed at episode endings like this is you will too.
- The “Don’t Miss the Credits” moment.
My Music:
Episode ending was “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” by Death Cab For Cutie
My Quotes:
JD: He’s over 70! Black people have the greatest skin.
JD: Even thought I am a man I prefer appletinis. They make me feel fancy.
Ted: NOT G!!!! NOOOOOoooooo…..
George (referring to Denise): I think I just saw the devil.
JD: When Carla dies Heaven is gonna suck.
JD (quoting his mother): He is just going to use those pork chops for drugs!

My Inside Scoop:
Dr. Maddox meets Jordon, the ‘slag- smacker’. Dr. Maddox tells Jordon she is old. Despite being super friendly, Dr. Maddox is soulless as we see her tell JD to bounce a patient as soon as possible and then see him day dream about her smothering the patient while carrying on a conversation. JD has to talk to Denise about connecting with patients, because she is a little rough. Turk and JD have a traditional ‘bromantic night’ every year, Steak Night. Which not so oddly has it’s own song and dance to celebrate. JD and Turk meet George before leaving for Steak Night while JD is changing his IV fluid bag. George is dying and doesn’t have long to live. He wants a cigar and they tell him they can’t because of the huger explosion it would cause…George asks for a beer and the guys go to get one.
Ted has been working on Georges will, but tears it up by accident and then goes to spend another 11 hours retyping it on his typewriter. Turk and JD find out that George has no family and will probably die alone so they blow off Steak night to sty with him. Denise was working so they rescue a clearly scared and uncomfortable George from her. Dr. Maddox tells the Turk and JD they can stay with the patient but have to change out of their scrubs if they are off duty. Then she and Jordon go out for Cougar/MILF night at a bar.
Turk and JD get to know George better and they go through a lot of the “questions” that people have about death. Ted learns how to use a computer and get the will back. We also lean that Ed, the new intern, is great at starting things by Ted’s use of “recognize.” JD tell a story about his Dad and tried to reassure George that he will be remembered after he dies. Denise return and JD bans her from George’s room because of her horrible bedside manner.
JD, Turk and George all finally admit they are scared of dying and eventually have some good laughs. They spend the next few hours together and George say he is getting sleepy. He asks Turk and JD if they will be there when he wakes up and then says the beer tasted great. George never wakes up.
As Turk and JD sit on the roof of Sacred Heart, having a beer (well at least Turk), JD hopes that his last thought is a nice one…even if it’s about the taste of a nice cold beer.
Don’t Miss the Credits:
JD talks about if Turk dies before him how he will have Turk stuffed… and Carla too, and he will put them in his closet!
