Scrubs Season 8 Episode 7 – My New Role
February 3, 2009

Synopsis:
When Dr. Cox becomes overwhelmed in his new role as Chief of Medicine, he does the unthinkable and reaches out to Dr. Kelso for friendship
My Thoughts:
Strong Episode. Funny and emotional in ways. It’s really cool to see all the characters take on their new roles and especially how JD and Dr. Cox have to start interacting. It’s such a starch contrast form the teacher/mentor relationship they had. Now JD will probably never get that hug. Ted and the Janitor are hilarious. Seriously good stuff. This is Scrubs at it’s best.
My Greatest Moments:
- Dr. Cox’s Office visitors list. Notice who was on the Never ever allowed list? JD, Jordon and Hooch!
- The little rhythm thing that happened. JD/Cox new roles, it reminded me of Star Wars when Vader told Obie-Wan that now the apprentice was the master.
- the Janitor’s Picture.
- Dr. Coxes rant to Kelso about why they are not the same.
- Bongo Day… Now officially every Monday for me… I might even open it to all percussion instruments.
- Hammering in the perfect spots for emphasis (way to go Janitor)
- JD talking to Kelso like Ted is a dog. (I can’t get enough of that scene)…Have people been taking care of him?
My Music:
End of the Episode: My Road by Quinn Walker (perfect song for the action too)
My Quotes:
JD: Why are you playing bongos?
Janitor: It’s Monday. Monday is bongo day.
Dr. Cox: What are you doing there Ted?
Ted: Dr. Kelso always used to sign his paperwork on my back. It’s not so bad. I imagine it’s what a hug feels like…Is it?
Dr. Cox: I’m not going to hug you Ted.
Janitor: Life is more interesting when you look at the back of things. Women, that’s obvious. Baseball cards. Puppet shows…
Elliot: They are acting like a bunch of frickheads. Sorry about all the ‘F’ bombs.
Janitor: Are you trying to stop me from doing my job? How would you feel if I stop from taking patients wallets after they die?
Dr. Cox: Doctors don’t do that.
Janitor: Look at you. Sticking with the plan.
My Inside Scoop:
coming soon
Don’t Miss the Credits:
Elliot practices singing "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" and still can’t hit the low notes (sure…that’s why she is not allowed to sing it).

[...] episode with lots of Ted, Awesome. This and My New Role are possibly the best two back to backs all season, if not two of the best eps in a long time. [...]

@mike
From what I understand all the cast member’s will be missing in at least 1 episode this season to conserve on the shows budget. Must have just been his time. Don’t worry though he will be back soon. Not sure about scheduling though. Read somewhere (struggling to find the link) that this next week would be new then re-runs until they switch days/timeslots.

[...] Nah Nah and My Comedy Show, the previous two eps. At first I felt bad for JD because of his new role, but seeing as he has let it go to his head I think he will be ok. The time with the new interns [...]
