That’s a rhetorical question. Wasn’t that fun?
I have been scouring and begging for an invite to a new online video on demand service called Hulu. Hulu offers full-length episodes of NBC and Fox television programs (Not much CBS love for How I Met Your Mother but Scrubs is there!) and also some selected movies.
Anywho, for the beta period of hulu it is an invitation only service, thus my wondering through the dark series of tubes called the Internet seeking one. Finally…some nice soul took pity on me and send an invite! Special thanks to Ed, who is a Web and Rich Application developer who operated a blog called funkatron. Ed is a lot smarter than me it seems and develops things like Inspekt (a PHP library that makes it easier to write secure web applications) and Spaz (an open-source Twitter client for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux).
In addition to that, Ed is now my hero. Thank man. Ed’s thoughtless act of heroism has inspired me to be giving as well. I have 5 hulu invites up for grabs to the first 5 readers to leaving a valid and sincere comment. Link love like I have given to Ed is not required but is always appreciated!

UPDATE: A lot of you are asking for invites using an email you have already entered into the “Sign Up for hulu Private Beta” box on the hulu website. Once I go to put in your email address to send an invite, hulu says you already have an account associated with that address. I know they haven’t sent you one, it’s just a big waiting list, so if you want one please give me an address that hasn’t been used there. Also, I had some friends offer me their invites so I have a few more to give out. Thanks for visiting!

hey I would love to get in on the hulu action, creative google searching has gotten me nowhere.
I’ve been downloading alot of television via bittorrent RSS feeds so this would lighten my bandwidth and lift the load off my heavy conscience (I question my very role in society!)
it’s remarkable to me how much publicity this has netted them, very impressive. although all that hype hardly bodes well for future projects.

Torrents…ah…my good friend, how I love EZTV…then again it’s nice for you to want to contribute like such, and thanks for the RSS love and the compliments. Tell your friend…or even people who aren’t your friends (grin).
I deem your offering worthy…consider a hulu invite yours. Though I must warn you, I am upset because they don’t have full episodes of Scrubs and Seinfeld! Those bastards!

By the way, I was watching DL.TV and it said that if you don’t have the latest flash player then it will really slow down your computer and be almost unwatchable. But if you get the latest version, it runs perfectly. HD content looks great, too!

I am glad that your scouring and begging for a Hulu invite proved to be a successful venture and I pray that my scouring (which has ended here) and my begging (which is happening right now) proves equally victorious. My wife and I are both students and have canceled satellite to cut back on bills. I put a 2 week trial of netflix on a gift visa that had about a dollar on it, so needless to say, its over and wasn’t even that great while it lasted. Hulu looks like a great and free way to get our fix of shows like “The Office” and the ill-fated but still totally awesome “Firefly.” I hope that there are enough invites left for you to “share the love”

Joe, Jamie, others… If you go to the hulu site and put your email in for an invite they block that name. Just send me a different email address and I’ll be glad to send them on! Feel free to use the contact form.

So does the fact that it is currently in Beta mean that it will no longer be free soon or will they always make their money entirely off ads?

@Joe… I haven’t heard for certain but I assume it will be ad based and not fee based…I’ll try to find out for sure and let you know.
